First Cell Phone

April 1, 2022

It started on April 3, 1973, with Martin Cooper, a Motorola employee, on a bustling corner of New York City. A quick hello to a fellow researcher and key rival in creating the first cell phone. And from a simple call, a new world of innovation was born.

Innovation has changed the cell phone from a 14-inch tall device with a screen density of fewer than 100 pixels to a device under 6 inches tall with a neural engine capable of 15.8 trillion operations per second and 5G capabilities.

Today we join the other 10B+ smartphone users in the world to celebrate how it started and where it is going. Our mission is to be a trusted partner in helping you deliver the 18+ flex circuits, 1,500+ MLCCs, and the innovative Rigid PCB designs required to push the boundaries of possibilities in powering today’s smartphones.
