Ed Grady

President and Chief Executive Officer

Edward C. Grady, 67, is currently President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Electro Scientific Industries, Inc., (ESI) and assumed this role in February 2014. He has served on the Board of ESI since 2008 and prior to accepting the CEO responsibility at ESI, he served as CEO and Chairman at REEL Solar, Inc., a venture funded developer and manufacturer of low cost, high efficiency, thin film solar panels. Prior to that he served as President and CEO of Brooks Automation, a company that offers solutions that optimize productivity for the semiconductor and other industries, including clean tech and data storage. Mr. Grady retired from Brooks Automation in 2007. Prior to joining Brooks in 2003, he ran the wafer inspection and metrology groups at KLA-Tencor Corporation, a manufacturer of semiconductor equipment. Prior to KLA-Tencor, he was Chief Executive Officer of Hoya Micromask, a supplier of photo masks and services to the semiconductor industry. He started his career as an engineer for Monsanto Electronic Materials Company, Inc., a manufacturer of silicon wafers to the semiconductor industry, and eventually rose to the position of Vice President of Worldwide Sales. Mr. Grady is also a member of the board of directors at Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. - a provider of power and control technologies.

Paul Oldham

CFO, Sr. VP of Finance & Admin, Corporate Secretary

Mr. Oldham joined ESI in January of 2008, bringing nearly twenty years of financial management experience from Tektronix Inc.—recently acquired by Danaher Corporation—where he held several senior leadership positions including vice president finance and corporate controller, European operations controller, and most recently vice president treasurer and investor relations. Mr. Oldham earned his Bachelor of Science in accounting and Masters of Business Administration from Brigham Young University in Utah.

James Latham

Chief Marketing Officer

James Latham is Chief Marketing Officer for Electro Scientific Industries (ESI). Mr. Latham brings more than 20 years of executive leadership and global marketing experience to the position. Prior to ESI, James was Chief Marketing Officer of OpenText (NASDAQ:OTEX), focused on driving marketing as a strategic and direct contributor to the company’s success for this $1B firm. Before OpenText, Mr. Latham led the B2B Marketing Strategy team for worldwide brand management and digital relationship marketing at McCann Worldgroup (NASDAQ:IPG), a global marketing communications company. In that time, Mr. Latham helped plan, build, execute, and optimize digital campaigns for large technology clients such as Microsoft. Mr. Latham was also Vice President of Marketing for a number of well-known enterprise software companies and held marketing positions at both IBM and Lotus Development. Mr. Latham holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the State University of New York, and a Masters of Science in International Marketing Management from Boston University. James serves on the Advisory Board for both MobilePaks, the marketing and sales enablement company, and the CMO Council, a global network dedicated to knowledge exchange and thought leadership among senior global marketing leaders. He is a frequent technology marketing industry speaker and consultant.

Robert M. DeBakker

Sr. Vice President of Operations

In September 2004, Mr. DeBakker was named Vice President of Operations at ESI. He is a 25-year veteran of the high-technology industry. His experience ranges from early growth start-ups to large, multi-national organizations where he has been at the forefront of many of the industry's most significant technology innovations and transitions. Prior to joining ESI, Mr. DeBakker was an executive at IBM Corporation for six years. While there, he was Vice President of WW xSeries Supply Chain Operations and managed an end-to-end global supply chain in five countries. Prior positions within IBM included Vice President of i/p series and Vice President of Integrated Supply Chain Strategy. From 1988 to 1999, Mr. DeBakker worked for Sequent Computer Systems where he spearheaded the growth of the company from a small niche player to a global $1B company, with a focus on the deployment of world-class supply chain processes. His earlier experience includes Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain positions with Intel Corporation, Mentor Graphics Corporation, and NASA. Mr. DeBakker earned his bachelor’s degree (with honors) in Supply Chain/Logistics from the University of Tennessee.

Sidney Wong

Vice President, Customer Operations

Mr. Wong was promoted to the position of Vice President of Customer Operations at ESI in May 2009, after having served as Senior Director of Sales for over a year. He joined the company in May 1998 from Giga-tronics. During his tenure at ESI, Mr. Wong has held a variety of positions including director of sales and service and, most recently, senior director of marketing. He has propelled ESI to achieve record revenues, all the while traveling extensively in order to maintain ESI’s high standard of customer relations. Mr. Wong previously worked for Hewlett-Packard, and began his career at Philips HK Ltd. Mr. Wong holds a bachelor’s of science degree in Communication Engineering from the University of Kent in England.

Michael Darwin

Vice President & General Manager, Component, Microfabrication & Inspection Division

Dr. Michael Darwin joined ESI as Vice President and General Manager, Interconnect and Micromachining Division (IMD) in August, 2011.  He brings to ESI more than 16 years experience in the semiconductor and capital equipment business, and more than 20 years experience leading/managing technical teams.  Just prior to joining ESI, Dr. Darwin was Vice President of Nanometrics’ UniFire (formerly part of Zygo Corporation) and Materials Characterization Business Units, where he was responsible for growing business in wafer level chip scale packaging and high brightness LED markets respectively.  While at Zygo, he was responsible for growing its strategic investment in semiconductor metrology and inspection equipment as Vice President, Semiconductor Solutions; he has also held senior management positions at Rudolph Technologies and Intel Corporation.  Dr. Darwin earned his BS, MS, and Ph.D. in Physics from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. 

Mantreh Nournia

Vice President & General Manager, Consumer Products Division

Mantreh Nournia joined ESI in 2007, as product manager for the company’s laser ablation-ICP business. Ms. Nournia has worked in the semiconductor industry since 1995, when she began her career in lithography-related engineering roles with National Research of Council of Canada, and Litton Systems (a sub-contractor for Lockheed) where she was responsible for development of display systems for military applications. Ms. Nournia then spent several years with KLA, where she held roles in application and marketing management for e-beam metrology inspection and review. With ESI’s acquisition of the semiconductor systems business from GSI Group in April of 2013, Ms. Nournia assumed the leadership role in the new business, and was responsible for the integration, product development and marketing of the solutions added to ESI’s portfolio. In March of 2014, Ms. Nournia was promoted to the role of Vice President and general manager of the consumer products division for the Company. In this role, Ms. Nournia is responsible for all aspects of the division, including product development, engineering, marketing and profitability. 

Stefano Concina

Chief Technical Officer

Stefano Concina is Chief Technical Officer for ESI, where he is responsible for central R&D and engineering, as well as the internal laser business. Mr. Concina joined ESI in December 2010, bringing over 30 years of experience in high technology companies in engineering, business development and general management functions. Prior to ESI, Mr. Concina spent over 15 years at Kla-Tencor, a semiconductor capital equipment company, as General Manager of its Electron-Beam metrology, Electron-Beam inspection and as Managing Director of its investment arm, KT-Venture Group. Prior to Kla-Tencor, Mr. Concina was at Schlumberger for 12 years in various engineering positions and as General Manager in charge of its Electron Beam probing business. He holds an MSEE from Caltech, a Diplôme d’Ingénieur from ESIEE, France and completed all the coursework for his PhD in EE at Stanford.

Tracey Jerijervi

Vice President, Human Resources

Ms. Jerijervi joined ESI in April of 2007 as Director of Human Resources. With over 20 years of industry experience, she has held a number of senior human resource leadership positions within high tech companies such as RadiSys and Tektronix. Currently, Ms. Jerijervi serves on the board of directors of Junior Achievement, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to inspiring and preparing youth to succeed in the global economy. She graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor's of science degree.

Matthew Min

Vice President, Customer Support

Mr. Min joined ESI as a Financial Analyst & Division Controller in 2007. Prior to joining ESI, he worked 5 years for Pepsico as Financial Analyst and Operations Manager, helping the company to better execute both manufacturing and sales strategies. Mr. Min started his career as a a Submarine Officer and as a Nuclear Engineer in the U.S. Naval Nuclear Power Program overseeing the operation, maintenance, and overhaul of variety of engineering systems. He has a BSc Engineering Physics & Applied Mathematics from Colorado School of Mines, and an MBA with focuses in Operations and Finance from University of Washington.
